Assessments

Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessment

Your clinician will engage the caregiver and youth in a 60 comprehensive clinical assessment in order to gather information related to the presenting concerns, developmental history, psychosocial needs, family history, educational history, medical history, any current medications, previous treatment and/or testing results, in order to formulate treatment recommendations.

For children under the age of 12 years old the assessment session will be for caregiver(s) only. It is important for child development to be strength focused and our clinicians would like to provide caregivers with the opportunity to freely share any concerns without harming their child’s self-esteem. You will be provided an opportunity to explore the therapeutic environment as well as ask any additional questions. Assessment of your child will continue in the initial session and throughout treatment.

For youth 12 to 18, the adolescent and caregiver(s) will need to be present for the assessment. Each will be given the opportunity to meet individually with the clinician as well as jointly to discuss goals for treatment.

Addendum Assessment

The clinician will engage caregiver and youth in a 30-60 minute assessment process to gather information updating the youth’s progress in treatment and ongoing needs, formulating appropriate recommendations for discharge or continued treatment recommendations.
